Description

A comforting baked apple crumble perfect for fall, featuring warm spices and a crumbly topping.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a bit of brown sugar.
  3. In another bowl, mix together oats, flour, melted butter, the remaining brown sugar, and salt until crumbly.
  4. Spread the apple mixture evenly in a greased baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle the oat mixture generously over the apples.
  6. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the apples are bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
  7. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of ice cream.

Notes

Can be prepared a day in advance; just add the topping before baking. Leftovers can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
