- 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a bit of brown sugar.
- In another bowl, mix together oats, flour, melted butter, the remaining brown sugar, and salt until crumbly.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly in a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle the oat mixture generously over the apples.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the apples are bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
- Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of ice cream.
Notes
Can be prepared a day in advance; just add the topping before baking. Leftovers can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
