Description

Delicious and customizable beef gyros wrapped in warm pita, topped with fresh veggies and tzatziki sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 34 pitas or flatbreads
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Fresh veggies (lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers) for topping

Instructions

  1. Add the ground beef to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Use a wooden spoon to break it up while it cooks.
  2. Sprinkle in the oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper as the meat begins to brown. Stir well to combine and let cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the beef is fully cooked through.
  3. Prepare your veggies by thinly slicing the lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and cucumbers. Arrange them on a large platter for easy assembly.
  4. Warm the pitas or flatbreads in a separate pan or directly over the open flame of your stovetop to make them soft and pliable.
  5. Remove the beef from the heat once cooked. Start assembling your gyros by placing a generous scoop of the beef mixture onto the warm pita.
  6. Top with a dollop of tzatziki sauce and add your preferred veggies. Feel free to drizzle extra tzatziki on top.
  7. Fold the pita over and enjoy!

Notes

Prepare the beef mixture in advance for a quicker meal. Use leftover beef in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
