A comforting twist on classic Sloppy Joes using buttery Italian bread, zesty beef, and melted mozzarella cheese.

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices Italian bread
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Butter for spreading
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until browned and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper, then simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Generously butter the Italian bread on both sides and place on a baking sheet.
- Toast the bread in the oven for about 5 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove the bread, spoon the beef mixture onto each slice, and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Return to the oven for another 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
Notes
For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey or chicken. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
