Description

A comforting twist on classic Sloppy Joes using buttery Italian bread, zesty beef, and melted mozzarella cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices Italian bread
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Butter for spreading
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until browned and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper, then simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Generously butter the Italian bread on both sides and place on a baking sheet.
  6. Toast the bread in the oven for about 5 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Remove the bread, spoon the beef mixture onto each slice, and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  8. Return to the oven for another 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey or chicken. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
