- 8 oz spaghetti
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for sautéing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat; sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until soft and translucent.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper, and let simmer on low for about 15 minutes.
- Mix the ricotta cheese with the egg, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Layer half of the cooked spaghetti in a baking dish, followed by half of the meat sauce and then the ricotta mixture. Top with the remaining spaghetti and meat sauce.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
This dish can be prepared a day in advance. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
