Description

A delightful twist on a classic favorite, this baked spaghetti is layered with meat, cheese, and rich flavors, perfect for weeknight dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz spaghetti
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat; sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until soft and translucent.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper, and let simmer on low for about 15 minutes.
  6. Mix the ricotta cheese with the egg, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  7. Layer half of the cooked spaghetti in a baking dish, followed by half of the meat sauce and then the ricotta mixture. Top with the remaining spaghetti and meat sauce.
  8. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
