- 2 cups sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Combine the sourdough starter, warm water, sugar, and olive oil in a large bowl. Mix well until fully combined.
- Whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, and salt in another bowl until all dry ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a smooth dough forms.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they’re evenly spread throughout the dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until it becomes smooth, about 5-10 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot for 240-360 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Shape the risen dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Let it rise for another hour, allowing it to puff up nicely.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Allow to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
This dough can be made the night before and let rise in the fridge. Store any leftovers wrapped tightly at room temperature for up to three days.
