Description

A creamy and comforting casserole combining sweet potatoes and ground turkey, perfect for family dinners on chilly evenings.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Optional toppings: green onions or fresh herbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until soft and fragrant.
  3. Add ground turkey, paprika, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Sauté until the turkey is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Layer the diced sweet potatoes at the bottom of a large baking dish.
  5. Pour the cooked turkey mixture evenly over the sweet potatoes.
  6. Drizzle the chicken broth over the casserole.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheese generously on top.
  8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until sweet potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly.
  10. Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving and garnish with green onions or fresh herbs if desired.
