Description
A nostalgic and comforting homemade pizza dough recipe that sparks joy and brings families together around the table.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (or any flour of your choice)
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Combine the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Make a well in the center, then pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix everything together until a dough forms. Turn it out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Let it rest for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
- Punch down the dough to release the air. Roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Top with your favorite sauces and toppings, then bake in a preheated oven at 475°F for about 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Notes
Dough can be made in advance and refrigerated overnight for deeper flavor. Experiment with different flours for a unique taste.
