A cozy appetizer combining sweet and spicy bacon with creamy goat cheese, perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients

- 1 pack of thick-cut turkey bacon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon water
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 baguette
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- 4 or 8-ounce log of goat cheese
- Maple syrup (honey, or hot honey)
Instructions
- Place an oven rack on the center row and preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Line a large rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil, and place a baking rack on top.
- Combine the brown sugar, black pepper, water, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl.
- Lay the turkey bacon slices on the baking sheet, generously cover them with the brown sugar mixture.
- Place the tray of bacon into your oven and bake for 15 minutes, then flip the bacon slices.
- Bake for another 10-15 minutes until crispy.
- Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to cool.
- Increase your oven’s temperature to 425°F.
- Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch thick pieces and lay them cut side down on a foil-lined cookie sheet.
- Brush the tops of the bread with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Bake for 7-10 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Remove the crostini and allow them to cool.
- On your serving dish, place the goat cheese log.
- Break the cooled bacon into small pieces and press into the goat cheese log.
Notes
Make the bacon and crostini in advance for easy assembly. Store leftovers in the refrigerator, covered with plastic wrap.
