Description
A delightful and tender New York-style crumb cake topped with a rich buttery crumb, perfect for cozy moments.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup crumb topping (made with additional flour, sugar, and butter)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl until combined — this will be your dry mixture.
- Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each is fully incorporated. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
- Combine the ingredients for the crumb topping in another bowl until crumbly, then sprinkle over the batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool for a few minutes before slicing and serve warm.
