Description

Delight in these Oven-Baked Cheesy Tacos, a comforting twist on taco night that offers a crispy shell filled with seasoned beef and topped with your favorite fresh ingredients.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • ⅔ cup tomato sauce or salsa
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 8 hard taco shells
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Mexican blend)
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup diced tomatoes
  • ¼ cup diced red onion
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (optional)
  • Sour cream (optional)
  • Guacamole (optional)
  • Jalapeño slices (optional)
  • Hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the taco shells upright in a baking dish.
  2. Cook the ground beef and diced onion in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add minced garlic and taco seasoning; stir for about a minute. Pour in tomato sauce or salsa and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Assemble the tacos by filling each shell with the beef mixture and topping with shredded cheese.
  5. Bake in the oven for 10–15 minutes until cheese is bubbling and tacos are crispy.
  6. Remove from the oven, add fresh toppings, and serve warm with sides of sour cream, guacamole, jalapeños, or hot sauce.

Notes

Meal prep the beef mixture ahead of time and store in the refrigerator. Use various proteins for different flavor profiles.
