Description

Indulge in the rich flavor of these soft Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls topped with creamy frosting, perfect for any special occasion or breakfast treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup melted butter (for filling)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • Cream cheese frosting (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, instant yeast, and salt until well combined.
  2. Combine warm milk, melted butter, egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl, stirring until smooth.
  3. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry mixture until a dough forms. It should be soft and slightly sticky.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes or until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl and let it rise in a warm area for about 60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll the dough out into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Spread the melted butter evenly over the surface.
  6. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon over the butter, creating a sweet layer.
  7. Starting from one end, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into 12 equal-sized slices to form rolls.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving some space between each roll. Allow them to rise again for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  10. Allow the rolls to cool slightly, then generously top them with cream cheese frosting before serving.

Notes

For a unique twist, consider adding nuts, zesty citrus, or a caramel drizzle on top of the frosting. This recipe can be prepared ahead and refrigerated overnight.
